 Haley

Haley came out of the mill on May 15.2004 at that time her foster mom knew she had dry eye as her eyeballs looked like crinkled wax paper.  This is the update after her visit to the vet.

Criminal neglect was the term that was used. She had two tests done on her eyes. One measures the moisture in her eyes. A score of 5 or below means dry eye. One of
her eyes scored a solid "0". The other eye was a 7, which is borderline and in need of treatment as well. The other test is a corneal eye staining test. This checks for scars and ulcers on the cornea. Her good eye showed several scars and small ulcers. Where they have healed the pigment has turned her cornea dark, leaving her with damaged vision.  Her bad eye is just one huge scabby ulcer!!! THIS IS CRIMINAL!!! All
the damage could have been avoided if they had noticed a thick gooey mucous in her eyes and had her tested. Then two drops a day of Cyclosporine drops would have prevented the ulcers and minimized scarring!!

After several weeks of treatment her eyes improved.  She found her forever family and life was grand for her.  But this did not last long and her eyes flared up again but this time with a vengeance.  Haley lost her eyes one at a time due to a fungus infection that her body was unable to fight off due to her weakened immune system from her life in the mill.  Even with the loss of her eyes, this did not weaken her spirit and she showed everyone how much she loved her forever family.   Haley had a very deep bond with her daddy, Joe and it showed through in every picture that was taken.

Then in mid November 2005, Haley was diagnosed with severe gall stones.  Haley underwent surgery to remove the multiple stones from the gallbladder and liver.

On December 14th, 2005, Haley lost her fight against the damage done to her little body during her life in the mills.  We will all miss her deeply.  But she is missed the most by her forever daddy, Joe, and her mommy, Jeanie.

Our beautiful Haley lost her fight for life this morning at 8:04. We did everything possible to save our girl's life, but it was just not meant to be.
We can't understand why she had to endure so much in such a short period of time, only to be taken from our arms so early in life. The pain of her not being here is unbearable and we do not know if we can ever put back the broken pieces of our hearts.
We miss her so much; life will never be complete again.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers for our little angel.

Love Joe and Jeanie

I See You With My Heart

I cannot see you Daddy, when you cuddle me so near.

And yet I know you love me, it's in the words I hear.

I cannot see you Daddy, when you hold me by your side,

But still I know you love me when you tell me so with pride.

I cannot see to run and play out in the sun so bright,

For here inside my tiny head, it's always dark as night.

I cannot see the treats you give when I am extra good

But I can wag my tail in thanks just like a good dog should.

"She cannot see. The dog's no good" is what some folks might say.

"She can't be trained, she'll never learn. She must be put away."

But not you, Daddy, you know that it's alright,

And that I love you just as much as any dog with sight.

You took me in, you gave me love and we will never part.

Because I'm blind with just my eyes, I see you with my heart.

Once there was a tiny furry Princess. She lived in a hell hole of a place we call a mill. She was rescued and she was granted one wish from her fairydog mother. Haley decided she wanted to live forever with Joe and Jeanie and their family. Princess Haley had many physical problems. But she was given the best care money could buy. She was, after all, a Princess. She also was worshipped by her new family. The bond between Joe and the tiny Princess could bring tears to your eyes. Once I saw the Angels that guard the earth furlings crying. I asked them what was wrong?? They said there is nothing wrong!! We are crying because there is this man so totally in love with this little furry Princess that he is all hunched over and holding an umbrella over the Princess while she potties outside in the rain. The man was getting all wet but the Princes was dry and secure in his love. It is so beautiful and loving that we are crying tears of pure joy...

Princess Haley had to have her little eyes removed due to a fungus infection that couldn't be cured. But it didn't matter to her. You see Haley saw with her heart. She was and will continue to be, an inspiration to all of us.

The Angels are crying today as well. Not for Princess Haley who is free from pain and illness. They are crying for the family that loved and cared for Princess Haley so unselfishly. Their hearts are broken . As are all that knew the tiny Princess.

But......

There is another wonderful thing happening now..Princess Haley has asked that the tears from the Angels that guard the earth furlings, be sent to Joe and Jeanie's hearts as a special magic potion to help them heal..and to be secure in the knowledge that she is OK and that she is still very much with them..she lives forever in their hearts and souls....

This was dictated by Princess Haley to Yodie Marie at the Rainbow Bridge...

Joe and Jeanie, our girls are happy and they are watching out for us here...they know our work is not yet done...they are patient...

Hugs to you both, I am just so incredibly sorry....and sad....

Love,
Eileen
