Gidget's Story

Hi, I’m Gidget and I was rescued from a puppymill.  I was registered with the AKC as Melissa but my new Mom and Dad felt that I looked and acted more like a Gidget so they changed my name.  That was fine with me because I was so happy to have a forever home that I answered to anything.  I just wanted to be held and cuddled.  I love to give kisses too!  I am pretty friendly once I have been around you  and see that my Mom likes you okay.  Initially though, I bark up a storm anytime anyone enters the room or if I hear any little noise outside or ANY loud noise at all.  I can sound really ferocious too!  Then I just run and jump in my Mom’s arms….she’ll take care of everything!  :o))  I am 4 years old and although I did not have it as bad as some of the other rescues in the puppymills, I am sure glad I am free.  I like being a member of the family much better than just being bred for puppies.  After I was rescued I went to live with my foster mom, Elaine.  That was the first place I was really shown a loving, home environment.  I liked it there and Elaine loved me!  Most everybody does!  But foster parents can’t keep everyone, so I was adopted out to my new Mom & Dad and now I live in sunny Florida with my two brothers,  Sammie and Dandy.  I’m the prettiest though!  And my Mom & Dad love me a lot and call me their little “Gidget-girl”!  Sammie is a yorkie too, but he’s smaller than me.  We wrestle and bite each other and chase each other all over the house and the yard.  Sometimes if Sammie thinks I am getting the upperhand; he cheats and jumps up in the recliner with Mom!  He thinks he is smarter than me, but one of these days I will figure out how to do that too.  Dandy is a 9 year old poodle.  He doesn’t run around with us but he has recently started to try to join in when we play.  I think we will have to take it easy with him.  His favorite thing is just to chew on Daddy’s shoes.   Sometimes I think Dad leaves them out just for him. :o)  I love my brothers!  We all get along great and love to sleep next to each other.  We also like to pile in the recliner with Mom all at once!  My new home and family are fabulous!  We get lots of love, attention and toys and there is plenty of room to run around.  Mom and Dad both give each of us cuddle time every single day!  We love it!  Mom and Dad said they picked us out special, and we think that is GREAT!  We are SO-O-O lucky.  Maybe you should consider adopting a puppymill rescue.  There are still SO many left and they deserve to know humans can be loving.  Besides they have SO much love to give you in return.  Before I go, I just want to thank everyone who helped in my rescue and transport, especially my foster Mom, Elaine, for taking care of me until I could be adopted.

Hugs and Sloppy doggy kisses to you all!!!   Luv,  Gidget
