Battina's Story.

Don’t I look beautiful in this nice, soft, green grass??  You would think I was born with a silver doggie biscuit in my mouth….but I wasn’t.  I was born in a puppymill with a cold, hard, wire cage under my feet.  I was very, very tiny and the puppymillers could already tell I probably wouldn’t survive.  Even if I did, I would be too small and weak to have puppies & make money for them.    So all I could do was lay there and wait for the dark sleep to come.  Then they came and got me was I going to be thrown in the trash or incinerator??  A human lady took me and I’m still alive – barely.  I hope she doesn’t hurt me.  Well, she didn’t hurt me – she saved my life.

My first foster mommy, Elaine, hand fed me.  I was too weak to eat or sit up. I tried to die 3 times and she wouldn’t let me.  I was in the bathtub with my legs just sprawled out on a heating pad – getting food from her fingers.  She never gave up on me.  I got stronger & could even stand up pretty good.  When I was almost 6 months old, she thought I was well enough to go to another foster mommy and maybe get a forever home….what is that?  Then my new foster mommy, Gail, took me and there were lots of other doggies there too.  Some were so scared  - they came from a place like I did, only they had lived there a lot longer.    All they ever knew was abusive hands that hurt them and dirty cages and nasty food – when there was any.   A month or so later, I got put in Scott’s BIG truck with some of the other dogs.  We went on a long trip to Florida.  They kept telling me that someone wanted me forever.  Then Scott handed me to my forever mommy.  She was soft and warm and gentle and she was crying and smiling.  I was so excited that I peed all over Scott!   My new mommy held me and cuddled me and I just pressed up against her & cuddled under her neck.

I have a forever family now and we are all so much in love!  A mom, a dad, an older doggie sister, Lacy the 11 year old poodle and a 4 year old Chihuahua brother, Chiquito.  Just think, one person’s devotion to a tiny little dying forgotten puppy has now changed and blessed the lives of this family.  My forever mom says Elaine is our hero.  I’ll be tiny all my life, my back only comes up to Chiquito’s tummy.   I wanted you to see a picture of me and my mom and me and my brother Chiquito.    We have a big fenced yard and lots of toys.  I always get kisses and hugs and I can sure give them back.

Remember my story – please don’t buy from pet shops.  You are only supporting the abusive,  filthy puppymills.  Pet shops will lie to you about where they get their animals – be strong – walk away.
