Barbi-Doll

July 21  2005 went to Rainbow Bridge.

"Barbie Doll"  Barbie was my angel on earth.

She brought joy to our lives, made me smile every day.

Barbie was here only a year when we discovered she had bladder cancer and
they gave her a six months to year and that was a year and a half ago, so
she was a strong little girl.

She had to be to make it through 10 years in a Missouri
 puppymill.

She fought this cancer hard and up to the beginning of this
month you would never have known anything was wrong.
My heart feels so empty, and I hope that each day my memories of her will
fill it up till I see her again one day.

Barbie is doing very well.  She is a wonderful happy little girl, she makes us smile each and every day!

Barbie does have bladder cancer and has had an operation to remove ¾ of her bladder, but the cancer had already spread.  In April in will be a year since she was diagnosed.  Other then her incontinence and blood in her urine you would never know that she is sick.  As long as she’s happy and not in pain, that’s what matters.

Those of you who remember Barbie, she had that long beautiful blonde hair, well now we are keeping in short (makes clean-up easier when she has an accident in her sleep).  I think the short haircut makes her look like a puppy even though we think she is about 12 years old. We are so happy that Ms. Barbie Doll has come into our lives.

Thanks PMR, Michelle

Update June 2003

Hello everyone,
I just thought I’d give ya’ll an update on Barbie Doll.

When she first came to our “Happy Home” she pretty much just stayed to herself. She didn’t like being held or petted too much and she didn’t want the other dogs to bother her (she growled and snapped if they got too close). She just liked to lay on her pillow and slept most of the day. I had to build her a ramp because she had trouble going down the four steps to the yard.

Well now she is doing GREAT! She’s a morning dog!!!!! She chooses not to sleep in the with me and sleeps in a doggie bed next to my bed, but in the morning when she wakes up she runs around my bed and tries to jump up. It’s so cute, she puts so much effort into her jumps, but only gets about half an inch off the ground. I usually wake up to her jumping and help her into the bed, give her some scratches and she goes back to sleep. Oh, she does like to sleep in my bed if she hears Thunder, she so scared of it! She has started playing chase with Emmy the Peke and Sophie the other Lhasa. It’s really funny to watch, they run all over the house and Emmy is the fastest and smallest so when she gets tired she runs under the sofa to rest. Emmy is Barbie’s new “Best Friend”. They lay together and play together. Emmy is still careful around Barbie, because sometimes Barbie snaps if Emmy sneaks up on her. Barbie is now a happy little active girl. I have even gotten rid of the ramp, she still takes the stairs slowly, but she quit using the ramp on her own.

I have attached a photo of Barbie Doll and Emmy.

Barbie is cured........and home Updated - 2/16/03

Barbie has been adopted.  Here she is with her new mommy.

And her new friends.

Barbie has a wonderful disposition, she is crate trained and good with children but she is shy still do to all her past experiences. She is neither food aggressive nor dog aggressive. Her coat is coming in great and soon she will look like her Barbie self. All her surgeries have been completed except possibly one, and we feel that she is advancing great, what she needs is a mom with allot of TLC and a parent that is home most of the day. She doesn't mind being in her crate but if she has a choice she'd; like to be playing with the other guys. (Being her foster mom I feel that if she was placed soon it would lesson her stress and her personality would be able to come out more now she thinks were just going to pick on her or let her out and both of those do not excite her much.) Lisa (7-9 yr. old that is a complete guess because of med. problems)

Good news's today.. vet report on Barbie's tumor she is cured!!!!

Conclusions; Mixed Mammary Adenoma,
Comments: the submitted mass was a mixed mammary adenoma. Complete surgical excision of such tumors is typically curative. This mass did appear to have been completely excised. (7/9/02).

(UPDATE 8/11)
Barbie has learned to play with a tennis ball and run around and play with the kids not yet playing with adults but progress is coming along nicely. she is totally crate trained and is eating well. She is now barking what a change. doesn't the new picture look good I think her attitude is growing like her hair. She is going to come out just fine and be a good girl to any household she doesn't mind cats or other dogs, good with children.

Update 11/4

Barbie is not going blind.  She had an eye infection that is being treated and they feel that she will not lose her sight.  It is also found that Barbie has decided that she loves her freedom and NO LONGER needs the safety of the crate.  This is common with some of the mill dogs as they had only known living in a cage.  Since she has had her taste of freedom, she has decided that she prefers to NOT be crated.

Barbie Doll WAS ON OUR WEB AS "Adopt Me Special Needs dogs. "

Barbie Doll, we think she is a Lhasa and only about 6 years old.

she will be a special needs pup, she was released untreated from the mill as she has mammary tumors as you can see from the picture.......we had her x-rayed and the vet can see no evidence of spread to other organs so we MAY? have caught her in time.

She had a  spay her tumors removed and the umbilical hernia repaired this week.

This dog deserves the very best loving home, but you must understand their are no guarantees she will live a normal life  span, we have had her tumors sent to be analyzed and will publish the results,  the vet said he thought is was 85% positive they were cancerous tumors.
