Abby's Story
Hi, I'm Abby! I was born in a puppymill in Missouri. I'm such a lucky
little yorkie, because my first mommy, Elaine, rescued me from that awful
place. You see, I have a little problem that makes me unbreedable and
therefore, worthless to the miller. And because my little problem is
visible and not something that can be hidden, like a bad heart, I was also
not suitable to be sold in a pet store. So, you can see how lucky I am
that the miller didn't drown me, or shoot me, or just leave me to starve
to death. My Mommy Elaine named me Aurora. I LOVE my Mommy Elaine and am
so glad she rescued me!!!
On September 9, 2000, my Mommy Elaine put me in a crate in the car, along
with five other yorkies she had just rescued and was taking to the
groomer's. My Mommy Elaine was always so busy doing good things for us
doggies. Lucky us!! Mommy Elaine drove a little while, then stopped the
car, put me on a leash, and took me out of the car. She gently put me in
the grass and let me play with her one last time. My paws had never felt
grass before. It was so nice and soft. I was having a wonderful morning!
Then I saw this lady walking a doggie on a leash. The lady approached us
and began talking to my Mommy Elaine. Mommy Elaine seemed reluctant and
sad, but she handed me to the lady. The lady hugged me and cuddled me. And
then… she put me back into the crate for a LONG drive to Louisiana.
I was scared at first, but soon realized that the lady was my new forever
mommy and that doggie she was walking, well, that was my new brother,
Buster. My forever mommy told me she had waited a LONG time for me, almost
six months!
One of the first things Mommy Denise did was take me to the vet. YUCK!!
The vet said I was a healthy little girl with just a minor skin problem
and my other little problem, which really isn't a problem at all. In fact,
my other little problem kept me from a life of hell!
I'm so happy here with my forever mommy and big brother! We do all kinds
of activities. Mommy Denise takes Buster and me to the park all the time.
We go to Petsmart (they love me there!) and the Three Dog Bakery (YUM!). I
was in a two-mile walk for abused animals (okay… Mommy Denise carried me
in the pet pouch most of the way, but I was there!!). I have a wonderful
new wardrobe and don't mind dressing up at all. My forever mommy loves me,
my Mamaw Darlene loves me, and I think even my big brother, Buster loves
me (although I thought I heard him whisper in Mommy's ear that he'll be
glad when I get rid of these little sharp baby teeth…).
My thanks to Auntie Jean for all she does to help the poor puppymill dogs;
to Auntie Anita for so carefully checking my forever mommy's references to
make sure I went to a really good home; and especially to my Mommy
Elaine for saving me and taking such good care of me.
Kissy-boo, kissy-boo!!
Abby
